Prewar70 Posted July 13, 2025 Report Posted July 13, 2025 Kunishige? It is a nicely forged Wakizashi with a very distinct hamon. Of course I’m wondering if anybody is familiar with the Smith and school and any information you could provide or direction to point me in thank you. Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted July 14, 2025 Report Posted July 14, 2025 Was this mounted in WWII fittings, or with a leather cover? The hash marks are normally seen on WWII gunto, and will match stamped numbers on the rest of the fittings. Yours is a bit unusual as it looks like "5 4 10". Quote
Prewar70 Posted July 14, 2025 Author Report Posted July 14, 2025 Hi Bruce, I believe the mounts are Kyu Gunto maybe type 19. Very basic 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 15, 2025 Report Posted July 15, 2025 HAMON looks like a variation of SANBON-SUGI to me. Quote
