John C Posted May 29, 2024 Report Posted May 29, 2024 Hello: My reference books do not list this mei. Any help would be appreciated. (best I could zoom in - sorry) John C. Quote
Ray Singer Posted May 29, 2024 Report Posted May 29, 2024 At a guess perhaps 吉氏 (Yoshiuji) or 吉武 (Yoshitake). 2 Quote
Nobody Posted May 29, 2024 Report Posted May 29, 2024 It seems to be a logo based on a kanji 越 (etsu). Mitsukoshi, Ltd. also uses a similar logo but different typeface. 2 Quote
John C Posted May 29, 2024 Author Report Posted May 29, 2024 Interesting. I'll have to do some more research with this new information. I think the yatate is probably Taisho or early Showa. Could be late Meiji, though I really don't know enough about the styles to be sure. Thank you for the information. John C. Quote
John C Posted May 29, 2024 Author Report Posted May 29, 2024 46 minutes ago, Nobody said: Mitsukoshi, Ltd. also uses a similar logo but different typeface. They certainly have been around long enough to have sold this! John C. Quote
