Not saying it isn't Nihonto, it clearly is, just best to temper any dreams that this is an undiscovered master work. My initial goal was getting a Nihinto. The rest, regarding the mei is just speculation and a fun research, that’s fine! I bought it on Catawiki, an auction platform for collectables. Personally I would not want to buy a blade without shirasaya though. No matter how much I love proper mountings, from all what I read they are improper for storage and it needs proper moisture. I have actually had some interest in buying loose koshirae (with those wooden blades in them) but I really do not know the market prices for such things. Prices cover a wide range starting from hundreds rising to tens of thousands. It all depends on age, rarity, quality (Juyo), style, and originality.
