Ray Singer Posted September 6, 2023 Report Posted September 6, 2023 This looks like the type of post we are frequently getting on Facebook: often scammers are stealing photos from other sellers and listing them for low prices and asking for payment exclusively in cryptocurrency or PayPal friends & family. For the groups I manage, I have been requiring that anyone posting a sword for sale include a photo with their name (a handwritten piece of paper is fine) next to the items they are selling. This is helpful to prove that the sword is in their physical possession. If something sounds too good to be true, step away or take additional steps to verify the seller's ownership/possession of the item they are selling. 4 1 Quote
Brian Posted September 6, 2023 Report Posted September 6, 2023 Paper with name has become easy to photoshop. In the knife groups, they are routinely fake. Suggested if the item is of any value, the guy needs to send a VIDEO of him with the item, and even better...Facetime you. Suggest that is done before finalizing any sword deals with strangers. 1 Quote
Seiko Posted September 7, 2023 Report Posted September 7, 2023 This is crazy. I didn't know that was happening so often. A solution could also be to ask for a specific picture angle or video. Quote
