b.hennick Posted May 9, 2023 Report Posted May 9, 2023 I was asked about a WWII sword. There is a three character mei. The second and third read Kin Shige. I would not find the smith anywhere. I probably mistranslated the mei. Help will be appreciated. Quote
Mark S. Posted May 9, 2023 Report Posted May 9, 2023 Kaneshige? According to the Nihonto Compendium by Markus Sesko, in the 8 stroke category, Kane and Kin (along with a couple others) are attributed to that kanji... although it is slightly different. Quote
SteveM Posted May 9, 2023 Report Posted May 9, 2023 If its a WW2 sword I'd say Seki Kinju, real name of Nishimura Jin'ichi*. Listed on Jinsoo Kim's site, and others. http://www.jp-sword.com/files/seki/gendaito.html *other readings possible. 1 2 Quote
