Its Honami appraised, but the appraisal has eroded and is now illegible.

Yamato Tegai

Osuriage mumei with Honami Chikayoshi attribution in gold inlay, which has been worn down and is now illegible. Well-made, and the jiba shows the characteristics of the Yamato school of Tegai.

One correction,

Honami’s writing is not gold inlay (金象嵌銘), but Kinpunmei (金粉銘).

…. which would make it a later Honami attribution (while we know this from the actual translation, it is a good standard shortcut when looking and kinzogan vs kinpun mei and are wondering about the dating / reliability etc of the attribution).

Sorry for my ignorance, but how does it differ from kinzogan vs kinpun in terms of reliability and dating of the attribution?
