acoyauh Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Hello, forumers. I'd like your comments on this piece, please. I'm pretty sure it's not Nihonto, it looks like some Spanish-made pieces I've seen around. Please share any info you're able to. Thank you! Quote
ChrisW Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Nothing about this piece is Japanese. Probably a Chinese made imitation. 1 Quote
DTM72 Posted January 13, 2022 Report Posted January 13, 2022 Looks like an older Chinese replica of a Japanese sword with a stainless steel blade and brushed hamon. Not worth much. Quote
acoyauh Posted January 13, 2022 Author Report Posted January 13, 2022 Thanks, guys. I've identified the thing; it's a vintage Taiwanese piece. On top of it, the bevel on the edge, which is the detail that suggested Toledo to me, is not in the originals. Somebody probably bought a sort of Taiwanese iaito or wall-hanger and 'sharpened' it with the bevel at a later time. Quote
DTM72 Posted January 13, 2022 Report Posted January 13, 2022 If you are looking for a "real" Japanese sword (Nihonto) this is a great place to ask questions and find people to trust on your purchase. Wishing you the best. Quote
