being i sold my FG, and a poor memory bank, i cant seem to find this logo (mark) on the nakago, any help is very helpful. maybe something with railway steel.

F&G shows it with the projection coming out the top right..but similar. (Upside down)

Says it is "Logo of the North China Joint Stock Transportation Company. Found only on specially made shin gunto fittings, and once on a signed tang. Very rare"

 

Hmm. Will have to see Dawson and see if it is mentioned there.

Dawson ('Cyclopedia) has 3 pages on these.

According to him, it is for the North China Railway Company, a joint effort started in 1938. They had swords made with this logo on them. He shows a Shin Gunto with this mark on the nakago, as well as on the kabutogane, ishizuke and sometimes on the menuki too. Nothing on the manufacture methods though.

Apparently there is one in the Prague Castle collection.
