george trotter Posted April 25, 2021 Report Posted April 25, 2021 The characters above the handle look like the name Ozawa. The others I can't see properly. Regards, Quote

george trotter Posted April 25, 2021 Report Posted April 25, 2021 That is a logo with the character SHI (city) at the top.(can also be read ICHI (market place)). The written character on the wood near the hole is MIGI (right). There seems to be another box with characters inside on the 'door'...want to zoom in on that? Quote

That's all I can pick up, they say the wig goes inside the box, thanks again. Quote
SteveM Posted April 25, 2021 Report Posted April 25, 2021 Possibly a wig box for a kabuki actor. Ichikawa (市川) is a family line long associated with kabuki. Might be related to the Ichikawa family. 1 Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted April 25, 2021 Report Posted April 25, 2021 Fascinating. Surely we have some Ichikawa Kabuki Ukiyo-e here among our members? Quote
