John A Stuart Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 I just couldn't pass these up. I think the quality is OK. I like the theme anyway. John Quote

Brian Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 John, Yeah..I like those a lot too. Lucky I didn't see them on offer Attractive and unusual theme. I particularly like the textured groundwork on the gumbai and the iron-looking collars on the saihai. Can't fault the condition too. Nice one. Brian Quote
John A Stuart Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 The condition may be due to the fact that Goto Zenjo in this case 全乗 was born 1720 and died 1797. So relatively later work. This Zenjo was the third master of the Ribei Goto line of Edo. There was a slightly earlier Zenjo using these kanji that was the sixth master of the Kihei line in Kyoto, but, this isn't him, I think. John Quote
Brian Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 John, I didn't notice a signature. Is this per origami? Brian Quote
John A Stuart Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 Yes. Of course it doesn't say which one. I have to go by the kanji. The sellers dates were off, being 1850,but, that doesn't fit. John Quote
