Infinite_Wisdumb Posted February 17, 2021 Report Posted February 17, 2021 Interested in the board thoughts on when this Tsuka and fittings were created. Just arrived! First in my collection. I have an idea, want to see if im way off. Jesse Quote
vajo Posted February 17, 2021 Report Posted February 17, 2021 Late Edo Wakizashi Tsuka. Nice mountings. The other Menuki is a moon. Quote
Geraint Posted February 17, 2021 Report Posted February 17, 2021 Dear Jesse. Dating fittings is really hard in most circumstances unless you are looking for an Edo period catchall. At first glance the fuchi and kashira appear to be associated rather than a set, this is not uncommon and not always a problem especially as the ito maki seems to be of good quality. Nightingales and a crescent moon, chrysanthemums and insects, perhaps an autumn evening theme. It's a pleasant set. You are not going to get much more information from these. All the best. Quote
Infinite_Wisdumb Posted February 18, 2021 Author Report Posted February 18, 2021 Thanks Chris and Geraint! I was thankful the ito maki was in real good shape and finely woven Quote
