waljamada Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 Had my eye out for o-kissaki swords and came across this one. Appears to be post 1940 and hope to learn the translation of the mei and hear any opinions on the blade. I am very untrained in modern swords and their authenticity and I'm unaware of how good "fakes" are from this modern era or what kind of quality a blade lile this could be considered. Quote
SteveM Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 杉田善昭作 Sugita Yoshiaki-saku Modern swordsmith, who passed away about 6 years ago. Well-known. Is there a date on the other side? No guarantee the signature is authentic. Quote
waljamada Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 SteveM, there is no date on the otherside. So just the signature. Ill try and find some mei comparisons. Quote
waljamada Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 Wellll seems a pretty obvious and terrible gimei to me. Many of the Kanji aren't even finished. 1 Quote
cisco-san Posted February 16, 2021 Report Posted February 16, 2021 I guess not from Sugita Yoshiaki, even Habaki seems completely wrong! Quote
