flo06 Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 Hello members, Do you have any idea about the translation of the 3 last kanji ? First ones (right side) are "Nagato", and the last one (left side) seems to be "Kore" or "Yuki". But the other two are a real problem for me. Thanks ! Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 Cannot see anything, Florian. Clicking, but your photo does not improve. Giving up. Quote
SteveM Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 Right side 長門 Left side 怒造之? I should say I looked for a smith who used 怒 in his name, but couldn't find any. So there is a good chance I am wrong about the name. Quote
flo06 Posted December 11, 2020 Author Report Posted December 11, 2020 Steve and Piers, thank you very much for your replies. Steve, your translation seems to be good or almost good. A little doubt on this one : 怒 I also didn't find a match with a name... Nothing in the Haynes or Kinko Meikan. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 Steve, have you considered 恕 Jo/Yurusu, with many other readings in names. Quote
SteveM Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 I looked at that also with no luck. Could also be 恏 , but that's even more obscure, and therefore (I feel) unlikely. I feel I'm missing something obvious. Quote
kyushukairu Posted December 11, 2020 Report Posted December 11, 2020 The top left and bottom radicals are definitely 女 and 心. I personally think it's 怒, and rather than the name of the maker, it's possible that 怒造之 simply means 'this was made in anger' Quote
