Akitombo Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 Hi, I have got a katana in shin-gunto mounts. The tang is unsigned, but has four characters in red lacquer. They are difficult to photograph, but I am hoping that at least a couple can be read. I thought the first one was Ko? and the third Yoshi. David Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 David, this is not necessarily the signature of the smith/worker. Quote
Akitombo Posted June 5, 2020 Author Report Posted June 5, 2020 Hi, Yes I thought that, as it is in shin-gunto mounts, prehaps put on after surrender. I understand swords were looked at by the US after the war. David Quote
