Wooly77 Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 Another Katana in combat cover with bare Tsuka and would like some help with a translation of this signature please. The Tsuba looks like iron and I tried to get a shot of the Hamon. All help wil be gratefully appreciated. Regards, Paul 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 備中国住為長 is my guess. “Tamenaga living in Bicchu” (northwest and west of Bizen) 1 Quote
Wooly77 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Report Posted April 15, 2020 Hello Piers, Thanks for your reply. I have at home both Hawley and Sesko and was wondering if this could be the Tamenaga. Regards, Paul Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 備中 is spelled different ways (Bitchu I prefer but it sometimes runs foul of forum swear filters) but sounds like ‘bit-chew’. On the face of it, that one seems to fit, but I cannot go deeper into things like genuine authenticity. Quote
Wooly77 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Report Posted April 15, 2020 Thanks very much. Regards, Paul Quote
george trotter Posted April 16, 2020 Report Posted April 16, 2020 Paul, I just checked the NIHONTO MEIKAN p.549 and it only lists one Tamenaga for Bitchu and gives the same details as your image from Markus Sesko (Embun, Aoe, Bitchu)...there is no other info. I think the info in Hawley is the same man...just less detail than these 2 others. Regards, 1 Quote
