kissakai Posted March 9, 2020 Report Posted March 9, 2020 Hi I want to try a new photographic set up for my tsuba I normally use a light tent, two lights with the tsuba suspended on a very thin wire The camera is on a tripod with an auto shutter cable I then photo shop out the wire The better method is with the tsuba on AR plastic as glass is too hard The image shows a suggested set up as below But before I start are there any pointers that may help and of course save me time I can't use the light box I only have a tripod so the camera is very close to the tripod Grev I forgot to say that it is important there are no shadows projected onto the bottom sheet of white (?) paper 2 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted March 11, 2020 Report Posted March 11, 2020 Grev, since you're using a camera, instead of a phone, I have to assume that you've already tried varying the DOF, right? The above setup looks great for "head-on" shots, but not sure how you would get any angled ones. Quote
kissakai Posted March 11, 2020 Author Report Posted March 11, 2020 This was primarily for head shots I've done the DOF and use a single dot focus when taking edge images Quote
w.y.chan Posted March 11, 2020 Report Posted March 11, 2020 I use a Canon EF-S 35mm f2.8 Macro lens with built in ring lights 2 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted March 12, 2020 Report Posted March 12, 2020 Wah, is the ring light an add-on? I've never heard of a Canon lens with built-in illumination. Quote
kissakai Posted March 12, 2020 Author Report Posted March 12, 2020 I forgot I have a ring light for my Canon lens. Must try it again I may try taking images in the dark with the light ring but pretty sure this will not work Quote
