Mikeyman30 Posted January 27, 2020 Author Report Posted January 27, 2020 I apologize. Michael M. Yes, I am aware that this Tsuba is likely only 50-70 years old but I am trying to find the maker nonetheless. I'm having trouble finding a maker for this Tsuba. Quote
Mikeyman30 Posted January 27, 2020 Author Report Posted January 27, 2020 This Tsuba is still a piece of militaria, so still collectible in my opinion; especially because It may have been owned by a general. Quote
SteveM Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 According to wikipedia, Tobari Shiro was General in the late 70s, and retired in 1980. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%99%B8%E4%B8%8A%E5%B9%95%E5%83%9A%E7%9B%A3%E9%83%A8 Quote

I'm having trouble finding a maker for this Tsuba. Yes, Michael, I understand, but this may be difficult indeed as it was probably factory made in numbers. I think it is more a memory medal gifted by TOBARI SHIRO to emplöyees and not meant to be mounted on a sword. Age is not of great importance in Japanese arts, but artistic quality, uniqueness, good workmanship and condition are. You can add your name to your profile, so you need not add it to every post.
