Jon MB Posted July 7, 2019 Report Posted July 7, 2019 Many thanks in advance folks, any hints based on shape appreciated.. . Under the scratches, hamon looks to have large notare towards tip. I think.. Warm regards, Jon B Quote
Geraint Posted July 7, 2019 Report Posted July 7, 2019 Dear John. This is clearly a Muromachi jidai Seki Kanefuse katate uchi which has been shortened......... No, seriously whatever opinion you get from these photographs is pretty much shooting the breeze. If you can determine in hand what you reckon to be the original nagasa before suriage then you have a shout but otherwise....? All the best. 1 Quote
Jon MB Posted July 7, 2019 Author Report Posted July 7, 2019 Many thanks Geraint, I follow. Worth asking for input though, given the expertise around. Mumei suriage Wakizashi...uphill work..... Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 7, 2019 Report Posted July 7, 2019 Jon,I think some good sharp photos of the NAKAGO without HABAKI would help making an assessment. In addition, you should give all measurements, but it will remain difficult to make a KANTEI in this state of polish.. Quote
Jon MB Posted July 8, 2019 Author Report Posted July 8, 2019 Ok. Working on it. My mistake, I thought around 15% of you were miracle workers. Warmest regards, Jon B 2 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 8, 2019 Report Posted July 8, 2019 ......I thought around 15% of you were miracle workers..... No, that is too optimistic. It is about 12% only. I am not sure but the KISSAKI seems to have been altered. The blade (length? width? KASANE?) looks like a stout one, and the NAKAGO says KOTO to me, slightly MACHI OKURI. Quote
Jon MB Posted July 8, 2019 Author Report Posted July 8, 2019 Motohaba: 2.7 cm Sakihaba: 2.0 cm Motokasane: 0.6 cm Sakikasane: 0.4 cm Nakago: 14 cm Blade: 50 cm Quote
