Hoshi Posted June 6, 2019 Report Posted June 6, 2019 https://yuhindo.com/osafune-kagemitsu-tachi/ I tried to preface this post with a description, but words just don't fit to describe this beauty. The interplay between hamon, antei and utsuri must be the work of Gods if there are any... Truly a sacred object, and one that hovers close to the Apex of Nihonto... 11 Quote

ChrisM Posted July 15, 2019 Report Posted July 15, 2019 It is beautiful - from start to finish. Silly Question: What is the red colored writing near the signature? I can't imagine that's original given the age, yet to color that portion of the sword seems sacrilege... Quote
Surfson Posted July 15, 2019 Report Posted July 15, 2019 That's an attribution. The bottom half of the true signature, which has the actual name, has been cut off during shortening. Read Darcy's writeup. I always learn a lot from his very astute and academic treatments of the maker in question. Quote
peter k Posted August 31, 2019 Report Posted August 31, 2019 what copious and uniform amount of utsuri on that sword... Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 Copious certainly fits, but I'd call the utsuri consistent, rather than uniform. Reminds me of the Northern Lights, falling in sheets. Quote
Surfson Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 The san saku boshi is very subtle on this one. https://markussesko.com/2015/06/10/kantei-3-hamon-boshi-3/ Quote
