SteveM Posted April 3, 2019 Report Posted April 3, 2019 1st one 祝 凱旋 Iwai Gaisen Celebration of Triumphal Return 昭和九年四月 Shōwa 9, April I guess this commemorates the Japanese establishment of Manchukuo the previous month. I couldn't find another example on the web. 2nd one 明治丗五年 Meiji 35 満期紀念 Manki Kinen Celebration of completion of term (of tour of duty? retirement?) 第七師団歩兵第廿七聯隊第十中隊 7th Division, 27th Regiment, 10th Troop There are other examples with the same phrase "Completion of Term", but I can't quite find out what it refers to. On the one hand it sounds like a phrase that would be for someone's retirement from the army, but these look more like something produced in some quantity that hints at a broader, more public commemoration.
