Silvio Posted June 29, 2017 Report Posted June 29, 2017 Hello, Is this a 20th century era original or a recent fake Tsuba Thank you Quote
Grey Doffin Posted June 29, 2017 Report Posted June 29, 2017 I suspect made recently and possibly cast. Even if it is a bit older and not cast, it isn't anything wonderful But what do I know? Grey 2 Quote
Silvio Posted June 30, 2017 Author Report Posted June 30, 2017 Thank you, I posted some better images Silvio Quote
Gakusee Posted June 30, 2017 Report Posted June 30, 2017 Silvio - you have played with the lighting, saturation etc of the original images. But now the images look artificial. My suggestion is to post some natural-daylight- as well as halogen-light-illuminated images and also images of the rim and inside of the ana (holes). The workmanship is not of particularly high quality and could be Meiji repro work but there are experts here who can opine much more knowledgeably. Quote
Silvio Posted June 30, 2017 Author Report Posted June 30, 2017 I changed the images for pictures taken outside. Quote
Silvio Posted July 1, 2017 Author Report Posted July 1, 2017 Asuming the Tsuba is a post 45 production/fake how about the Fuchi and Kashira ? as the also have a Dragon pattern Thank you, Silvio Quote
dominnimod Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 I wouldn't assume they are post 45/ fake. Maybe is the lighting, maybe it have been treated with something weird, or horrorous repatination, but the tsuba seems real. Low quality production piece( casted and hand finished?) but antique. If the pics don't deceive me you can see the small brass inlay in the dragon eyes. Fuchi and kashira are real antique as well, but also low end Quote
Silvio Posted July 1, 2017 Author Report Posted July 1, 2017 Thank you, Maybe they Lacquered it in the past so should this be cleaned?,the dragon eyes on both sides has brass dots. Do you have a time era for these parts? Silvio Quote
dominnimod Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 My wild guess: The tsuba seems namban work?, but the design isn't from that school?. Fuchi and kashira seems mino dragons. Low end pieces . All late edo period, 19th Quote
Silvio Posted July 6, 2017 Author Report Posted July 6, 2017 Thank you for your opinion Jose Silvio Quote
