SwordGuyJoe Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 All, I stumbled across this in my daily scrolling through my favorite sites. Outside of the nakago- jiri, I never would have pinned this Tanto to Sue Bizen (or any other bizen for that matter). Extremely active, nie-deki hitatsura hamon sure seems to shout soshu, more then Bizen. I'm not saying the papers are wrong, just a curious call. To me it looks like a bizen nakago was welded on a soshu blade (obviously it wasn't - just saying). Maybe that's why the NBTHK never returns my calls... http://www.seiyudo.com/a-020117.htm 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 Hi Joe, moroba tanto such as this are often seen in Sue-Bizen. Choji coming from both sides can create a hitatsura-like appearance. See the two examples below. One us a Katsumitsu / Munemitsu gassaku yari, and the other is a Sue-Bizen Sukesada in moroba-zukuri. http://www.sho-shin.com/katsumits-munemits.jpg https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2012/12187oshigata.jpg Best regards, Ray 1 Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted March 1, 2017 Author Report Posted March 1, 2017 Oh fine! Side with the NBHTK Raymond!! I now devalue your opinion, since you don't agree with me ( ) Edit to add: In the midst of being sarcastic, I forgot to say thanks for the examples. It's always a good day when I am corrected (and actually learn something, rather than trying to extinguish a stupid argument or fight about habaki). 1 Quote
Gunome Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 Hello Joe, Darcy have a nice example of a hitatsura hamon on a sue bizen sword: http://www.nihonto.ca/yosozaemon-sukesada-3/index.html 1 Quote
