ww2collectors Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Would someone please translate the tang on this sword. Is it a showa era blade? The blade is in ww2 shin gunto mounts. Thank You in advance for your help! Quote

Shugyosha Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 As I had a look, I'll throw this one in. Maybe: KANEFUMI (兼文), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – “Seki-jū Fukuda Kanefumi saku” (関住福田兼文作), “Kanefumi” (兼文), real name Fukuda Bunkichi (福田文吉), born September 25th 1898, he worked as a guntō smith But I wouldn't argue with Steve. Best, John Quote
cisco-san Posted January 12, 2017 Report Posted January 12, 2017 Hi, I would go for Seki ju Fukuda Kanetake saku KANETAKE (兼丈), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – “Kanetake” (兼丈), real name “Fukuda Jōtarō” (福田丈太郎), he was a Seki-based guntō smith regards Klaus Quote
