Yes, a puzzle.

 

I have spoken to a couple of collectors and they also agree it's Nobukane, probably a gendaito swordsmith but perhaps earlier.

 

The question (puzzle) is where and when it was made (and who is this Nobukane?)

I received this information


 


The sword signature is Saku shu Takada ju Nobukane.


作州高田住信包


 


He may be a sword smith in Owari.


We can find his name in sword dictionary.


He was active in and around Late Edo period about 160 years old.


He moved from Owari to Mimasaka(Saku shu) and Suo province.


 


Anyone know who this swordsmith is...and his ranking among swordsmiths?
