thanks dudes,

iron is quite well forged, not cut from mass produced factory plate, the mimi is gently " curve " when view sideway...................

quite a common design in a lot of schools but I like Dr. S's suggestion.

Hi, I have one of similar theme but thought it was mass produced. It has the same sort of seppedai but has only slight tagane for fit, it might be just visible in the scans. The mimi shows tekkotsu. Copy in this case? or Akasaka as well? John

Hi Rich, John et all. Maybe just Katchushi, and Edo period as opposed to Ko. It seems to be missing the hammered surface texture (tsuchime) of the older guards, i.e. the iron is pretty homogenous. Also, not that this is, but the Shoami group copied this style a lot but usually adding some form of gold on the mimi, in the style of arabesques or the likes.

Just a few thoughts.

Jeepers Rich S., looks like they were made with cookie cutters. Ko-katchushi hadn't entered my mind at all, tosho at the outside. Interesting, thanks, John

Rich T., No hammer marks you are quite right. Shows small bones though and at least may not be made from milled plate. Thanks, John

I have at least three other tsuba with same design , smaller though.

They all have " different " feel to the iron, one has many layers ( like my Ono tsuba ), while others looks Kanayama ( hopes spring eternal ).............

I will post pics when I locate them among the boxes.
