tokashikibob
Brian, Thanks for pointing out the weak advert, This particular blade's characteristics points to being a Shinto era piece of the Genroku period circa 1680-1720. This was used by a officer named Yamada Shinjou who carried this sword. His name is marked on the inside of the leather tab. Blade sports a nice wild hamon that needs to be brought out from it's WW2 armory polish. Fine nie particles can be seen in areas where there is polish and a nice wood grain is hiding awaiting a restoration if desired. 23 inch blade 33 inch sword length Unsigned blade, Large point, one forging opening in the blade with a few very small gnat's nips in the kissaki. The rest of the cutting edge is clean. Purple Handle wrap with small rip near chrysanthemum fitting, black lacquered saya with leather combat cover. Cover has some rips near button area and leather washer is missing it's strap. Habaki is artfully hand styled in copper. Nice family blade from circa 1700 that is much better than an arsenal made blade that you usually see in combat fittings .
