jesse Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 Members - I have been trying to figure out what type of soft medal is used to fill holes (Meguki, Tsuba, etc). If any one can point me to the appropriate documentation/forum, it would be greatly appreciated. Jesse Quote
Fuuten Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 From memory alone, for tsuba, i think they used the same sort of materials they used for tsuba, so copper, bronze, silver, gold and shibuichi. And probably more than i can list now. I'm not sure on what they used to fill menuki if needed, but i suppose its the same array of metal alloys. Quote
Teimei Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 Hi Jesse, for tsuba, i have seen shakudo, lead and Gold and a lot of alloys of such metals. Did you mean menuki or mekugi? For mekugi, lead was the material of choice. regards, Quote
Barrie B Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 Jesse, Do you mean holes in Tsuba - as in the Kogai and Kozuka ana..? because almost any soft metal is used, as previously said above… This tsuba has a gold plug in the kogai ana; however, almost any medium was used… Barrie. Quote
