mcjunkin Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 This sword was handed down to me 30 years ago. My father had it since the war. This past weekend was the first time I had seen the tang. I thought it was a mass produced military gunto. After hours searching google I was more confused than when I started then I came across this message board. There seems to be a lot of sincere and knowledge advice here. Please help me identify this sword. keep in mind I have very little experience in the sword world. Thanks, James M. sword.pdf Quote

k morita Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Hi, Try "special steel",at SEARCH on top of index page of this Forums. I surmise that "special steel" means near stainless steel or cold-resistant steel. Quote

I surmise that "special steel" means near stainless steel or cold-resistant steel. I think k morita San is correct in saying it will be stainless steel or properties very similar to it, still a very rare sword Quote
