Lmorrill Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 good morning everyone~! Wondering if anyone could lend a hand in helping me translate this two character signature on a quite attractive waka. that is available to me...it is an unusual shape iwht carvings on both side of the blade...I do not have many reference book, so any help by the good people here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Lisa Morrill Quote
Shugyosha Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Hi Lisa, My chance to bag an easy one: signature reads Kuni Hiro. Best wishes, Quote
Gabriel L Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Hello Lisa, John's got it right, 國廣 Kunihiro. Lots of smiths with that name, would have to do a lot more research to try and pin it down… ultimately you'd need to inspect the workmanship of the restored blade as well as compare the signature to known examples. Nice looking shobu-zukuri wakizashi IMHO. Needs some TLC of course. I don't know how much you do or don't know, so I'm going to link to my Owner's FAQ. I encourage you to check it out if you intend to purchase this piece! Quote
Brian Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Lisa (or is it Bob?) Didn't you use to trade a lot on eBay? Remember your auctions well under the v...4me username? Nice looking tanto, worth having checked out properly. Brian Quote
