loiner1965 Posted May 17, 2014 Report Posted May 17, 2014 these were on a newly aquired sword and i presume edo period. the tsuba is iron and no casting lines cannot tell if menuki are lions or dragons but presume the former any info much appreciated as always sorry for poor clarity tsuba height.....74mm width......68mm thick.......4mm Quote
Marius Posted May 17, 2014 Report Posted May 17, 2014 Steve, Menuki (shishi with ball) are cast copies, tsuba is a generic fairly low quality item, impossible to assign to any school. Could be a modern copy. Sorry Quote
Brian Posted May 17, 2014 Report Posted May 17, 2014 Tsuba I agree with, but not so sure about the menuki. Look ok to me. Would need to see the backs, which isn't possible. But have seen ones like this that are genuine and ok. Old patina too. I personally think they are ok. Brian Quote

Looking at the wrapping and it as old iron fuchi and pommel which is tied in with cotton I reckon its a low grade stubs and original menuki as everything is tied up tigether Quote
