takakage Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Beware, Same blade by two sellers..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-Japan ... 2c8262d03f http://www.ebay.com/itm/S182-Japanese-S ... 258e93e270 Always the same troubles with the same seller. Quote
Marius Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Allow me to explain: The blade is listed on yahoo.jp and on eBay.com twice: 1. by Japanese-antiques-trading-and-shopping-center 2. by komonjo 1. "Japanese-antiques-trading-and-shopping-center" plays arbitrage - he takes pics and description off yahoo.jp lists the item on eBay at an inflated Buy it Now price. if he finds someone dumb enough to accept his price, buys the item on yahoo.jp. His business model is based on the simple assumption that there will always be an idiot who will buy one of "his" items for a rip-off price. Technically he is not a fraudster but only an unethical businessman (I am sure that he will refund you the money if he fails to buy the item for you). 2. Komonjo (Mike Y.) has most likely an agreement with the Japanese seller to have it listed on eBay as well. You buy from Mike, you get it. Mike gets a commission. Do not expect hidden treasures, his swords come from Japanese dealers who unload their stuff on yahoo.jp and on eBay to gaijins. Doesn't mean you won't get a decent sword at a reasonable price. Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 In this case, having the same auction item listed by two sellers on Ebay itself is an illegal act according to ebay rules. KM Quote
Marius Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 It is not illegal, just a violation of eBay rules. OTOH, you are almost right - eBay has the clout to make its own laws. As do all big corporations. Look at eBay's PayPal and its practices - this is criminal, but they don't give a damn. Law is for those who have the means to hire the most (and best) lawyers. But it is so sad, that it is us, the mindless lemmings that flock to eBay to save a penny or to buy the next Masamune, who are to blame. We feed that monster. OK, rant mode ( ) OFF. Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 Is the triangular lamination near the nakago a regular feature ? http://www.gazou-plus.com/image/20140514gpN4jVgG.jpg Quote
