I cannot read this mei, other than "Living in Eichizen"...I know the photos aren't the greatest, but am hoping I'm at least close...(P.S. - I didn't take the photos!!).

Thank you Mr. Bowen...I am a complete mess when it comes to Kanji and "styles" --- even enrolled in a class to help me (hopefully they will not throw me out!!).

Perhaps I am getting more irascible in my old age but it bugs me the number of people who make no real attempt to read the mei . This is a pretty simple one and someone using John Yamoto's and Hawleys books should be able to work it out easily . Why do members so readily provide a translation when it is obvious that the poster hasn't even tried.?

My apologies Mr. Brooks - I truly am terrible at it, but will make you a "deal"...so as to keep your grump-factor down, I'll exhaust all means before requesting help on NMB. I've actually gotten a few correct, which I consider a personal victory even though I'm wrong more than right.

If I can't figure it out, I'll find other sources. Didn't mean to offend.

Hi Curtis san,

Hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I'm pretty sure Ian wasn't offended, just "exasperated" (read grumpy), that pretty simple kanji that come up almost every day, are being asked to be translated. There is "shu" and ju" and "masa" and "sada" for example, can't get much more basic than that.

Glad you do try of course, but maybe you'll lower Ian's (and others) grump level if you at least put in the simple ones and show that you have got some of them at least (just a hint).

Keep on trying, we all started at the beginning...

Regards,

Well said Mr. Trotter - and IMO, you're certainly not speaking "out of turn" :D I do need to work harder at the translations before coming here for help, and see your point. :D

Again, apologies to Mr. Brooks - I've not heard of John Yamoto's book but will find a copy.
