shingen Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 Hello all, I would like to ask your help on translating the Mei of this Military Katana. I am sorry that the photo is of bad quality. Thanks in advance for your time and help. Kind regards, Rick Quote
george trotter Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 Hi Rick, Yes, pretty hard to read, especially the first two kanji. Below the seki stamp I think it says: EnDo IchiMonJi There was a Seki gunto kaji working in WWII with this name Endo Ichimonji. He was registered as a swordmaker at Seki on 9 Jan 1941. Probably made showato only but I'm not sure. regards, Quote
k morita Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 George san, You are a perfect translator. great! Quote
shingen Posted November 20, 2013 Author Report Posted November 20, 2013 Thank you very much George and Morita san, I do appreciate your help and you effort reading my post! I have two more photo's of this blade but they are even worse then this one and the photo's are of the blade. The blade is in civilian mountings but looks to be a Showato from what I can see. I will do some research on the the name now I know what it is. Thanks again! Quote
