LakeBum Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 Has anyone been to the show of shows? It's mostly Militiria, but I was wondering if there were usually any booths with Nihonto or Japanese WWII blades. Thanks, Jason Quote
Stephen Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 I have yet to make it but a few members here do and some dealers from what ive heard, youll find gunto for sure. Quote
LakeBum Posted October 31, 2013 Author Report Posted October 31, 2013 Awesome, thanks! My nephew is big into WW2 stuff. He and his dad are going and asked if I wanted too. Just making sure it would be worth the trip. Quote
Stephen Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 Not sure if Grey does, im pretty sure Mark does, maybe he'll stop in and let us know the amount of Swords. Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I've been a few times. Probably the gold-standard of militaria shows anymore. The one in Pennsilvania - The MAX - is dead, but apparently no one told the promotor. One suggestion is that they typically do a gun show at the same time they are doing the SOS. DON'T BUY UNTIL YOU LOOK THERE. I picked up a couple lower-grade gendaito (at a pretty good price), then went to the gun show and kicked myself because there were something like a half-dozen tables dedicated to swords - one with a really pretty Watanabe Kanenaga (if memory serves - and it seldom does). Mark Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I set up at the SOS and so do several Japanese sword dealers. You will also find swords on other tables. It is well worth coming. Stop by my table and say Hi. Quote
LakeBum Posted November 1, 2013 Author Report Posted November 1, 2013 http://www.sosovms.com/CalendarDetail.a ... d=3/3/2014 That is the link that I found. The one that I will go to in Kentucky is either Feb or March. Jason Quote
Stephen Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 thanks looks like they have one starting today as well http://www.sosovms.com/CalendarDetail.a ... =11/3/2013 Quote
LakeBum Posted November 1, 2013 Author Report Posted November 1, 2013 Thanks for the tip Joe! Mark, are you going to the shows in Kentucky? Stephen I would probably actually try to make it to that show but I'm a coach and it's basketball season. Whenever I learn how to teach height, I'm going to be a rich man :D. Jason B. Quote
Mark Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I am at the show they are having now. It is NOT in KY and is a smaller show they have twice a year in Ohio. I will be at the SOS in KY in Feb 2014. Contact me if I you have any questions. Quote
