rebelron2 Posted July 4, 2013 Author Report Posted July 4, 2013 Thanks a lot guys. Can any of you give me any more information on the maker? Thanks again, Ron. Quote
george trotter Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Hi Ron, his name is Fukumoto Amahide and there is quite a lot on him and his son Fukumoto Kanemune (who signed your sword) who worked together in Seki in WWII. Look on-line and through the "links" above (go on Japanese Sword Index). John Slough's book pp.24-27 has a lot. he is capable of making a gendaito it is said, but I have only ever seen showato from these guys. Hope this helps, Geo. Quote
cisco-san Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Hi, these are the pages Georg is talking about. From Markus´s book: Amahide (天秀), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – „Nōshū Seki-jū Fukumoto Amahide kore o saku“ (濃州関住福本天秀作之), civilian name „Fukumoto Hideyoshi“ (福本秀吉), born on the seventh day of the fifth Meiji 19 (1886), he was first a knife maker but became later a swordsmith and studied under Kanenaga (兼永), he worked as rikugun-jumei-tōshō and died June 2nd 1973 Quote
Clive Sinclaire Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Ron I have a sword by this man and have written about him. If you go to http://www.To-ken.com and follow the Rescourses to the UK Sword Register, you will see he is listed, disussed and illustrated with oshigata. Clive Sinclaire Quote
