Hello,

I have been trying to improve my kanji skills, but I think I still have a very long way to go.

A friend asked me to have a go at this mei. I apologise for the picture quality, unfortunately he is without a camera so its only iphone photos.

Could someone please verify my translation: "no shu ju Kane Tomo"

I just couldnt be sure as it bears a star stamp, but does not quite resemble the oshigata examples I managed to find of Kiribuchi Kanetomo or of Miwa Kanetomo.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

James

Ah yes... I was blind but now I see. At least I managed to translate some correctly, so at least there is some improvement. The older you get the harder learning comes.

Thank you very much Moriyama san I greatly appreciate your assitance. :thanks:

And a special thank you to you Morita san, "which Kanetoshi" would have been my next question :D

I have seen many swords by this smith and the quality is in a very broad spectrum from low quality showato to very decent gendaito (typically found with a star stamp but I did see a very nice example that was a custom order blade).
