  1. Thanks Charlie! Any info about this smit? Been having a hard time finding anything.
  2. Sorry for the poor photo. Could anyone help with this mei? Thanks in advance!
  3. Wish I could find one in the wall!
  4. That's a bummer. Try the Museum of Fine Art Boston
  5. Steve, I'm probably stating the obvious but have you tried to contact John Stevens?
  6. Outstanding works! Slowly trying to teach myself shodo, it is extremely difficult, especially attaining the right mental focus. Steve your link to Choseizen is very helpful to me
  7. Throwing the baby out with the bath water. Feel sorry for you guys. I'm afraid this will do more harm to honorable people than the wrongdoers. Government can't seem to understand. Always allowing a few bad apples spoil the bunch. I am sure antiques collectors will be organizing to state their case, as this goes well beyond nihonto.
  8. Really nice work. Your photos are amazing!
  9. With that price range chances are slim to none. It will be hard to find something for $1000 + shipping. Good luck though!
  10. Adam, Thank you exactly what I was looking for. The tariff could be a problem I had not about.
  11. Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search but didn't really find a good answer. There is a blade I'm interested in but would like to know the following process for shipping to USA. 1. Once shipped are there any taxes, duties, etc that I'd have to pay? 2. What shipping service is used Usps, ups, FedEx? 3. Is there signature confirmation or would it be left at door? Many thanks to any information for this greenhorn. Jeff
  12. Michael, While not exactly what I was looking for in the post, the book sounds like something I should have. Thanks for that, as it has not come across my radar. Thanks Paul I will check it out!
  13. Really appreciate this information. These books being as pricey as they are I'd rather not be disappointed, as I need a large size for my artwork. In, due time, I would like them all!
  14. Thanks very much Richard. There are a couple titles that I had not come across and will be purchasing. It can be frustrating finding titles that have full size or enlarged plates, as I am using them for art reference. Is the Kuniyoshi: The Warrior Prints worth owning? As I understand there are a lot of b&w photos? Really appreciate your time and photos I am able to form a much clearer picture than off Amazon. Best Jeff
  15. Richard, Thanks for the suggestions! I've had my eye on the Marks book. I should have mentioned my main interest is in depictions of samurai, mythology, and folktales. Would the Marks book fit this bill? Thanks
  16. Hello, Hoping that someone can point me in the direction of large sized Ukiyo e books, especially Kunisada's work. I have Kuniyoshi by Matthi Forrer, which is perfect. Finding a large format book is proving a bit difficult, many being 9 x 11. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeff
  17. You said that you went to USPS and they confirmed it stolen? I'm curious as to what they said, when you explained that your Ring showed no one delivering. A possibility, which has happened to me, several times, is that tracking will show delivered, and it will show up a day later. Probably forgot it on the truck.
  18. Simple advice from someone who is not in your financial position: Buy the best historically significant example you can find. I would study katana in your price range and find a trusted dealer to help in your quest
