  1. Is it common to see on family blades remounted for use in ww2 to have patches of different rayskin? I have a NBTHK papered Shinto nobukuni wakizashi WW2 remount with a leather covered wood scabbard. I noticed under the tsuka Ito that the rayskin seemed to have what look like repairs & some look older than others? Appreciate any info since this would be my first pre ww2 period made blade. (Also interested in any details on the meguki)
  2. Just wanted to add my Nagamitsu RJT Type 3 for the records! (If anyone can translate the wooden tag that would be fantastic!) #2352 Ichi-Ryu-Shi-Saku Mei 26 & 1/4”inches Guard to Tip 38 & 1/2” inches overall w/ Scabbard 7mm Thick Mune 30.22mm Wide at the base, 23.78mm wide at center, 20.32mm at the Yokote. 45mm from the Tip to Yokote. Previously I thought the stamp was Noshu Nihonto Tanrenio, but I realize now it is not.
  3. Good friend of mine recently purchased this Shin Gunto in early type 94 mounts with Kanemoto Mei. Looking for information on the 2 character Mei in particular (Real ? & what Generation ?) Any other information that can be added is much appreciated too!
  4. Also was wondering opinions about the wear. Looks to have had fairly honest field use? Or would this be considered just handling use?
  5. I also wondered myself why the seller thought it was 8th Gen over his father & I also noticed the tang looking rather “clean” I can relate to the concern. This is a rather new subject in my never ending PTO rabbit hole I fell into some time ago. So all the info is greatly appreciated, thank you. I’ll post some more pictures soon to see what you guys think.
  6. Thanks Bruce! Very much appreciated! I’ve been trying to get my hands on a copy of the Fuller book. As well as Slough’s book & Plimpton’s new book. Unfortunately education in the form of textbooks is quite expensive… Makes me even more grateful to have access to this forum!
  7. I recently got a Type 98 made by 8th Gen Nobufusa. I cannot identify the markings on the Tsuba. All the parts are serialized 27. Also do not know the ink stamp on the wood is. Any help is greatly appreciated! (Posted some extra pictures)
