  3. I wasn’t trying to skirt question or mean to solicit information for naive collectors as you pointed out I like this sword and not planning to sell it I was curious what the cost of papers and how you go about getting papers since I never had one before I will find have found out my self had I known others felt this way
  4. Sorry I didn’t mean to make this confusing I wasn’t talking about getting my sword submitted again What did it cost when it was submitted so I can add that amount in the price when l decide to sell Also what would it cost be to submit different sword ? Is the price based on that particular sword? Steve
  5. Just curious What is the cost to have a sword WW2 Japanese get papers by NBTHK Hozon? And where can I send it Steve
  6. I meant to add what Bruce said ! It dose reach the scabbard snap But it’s torn that’s why it’s not snapped I didn’t want to further damage it
  7. If they can make one with a double snap even better I could have a bunch made and sell them on EBay Yes I have the chart I forgot about it ! Good ideas Thank you all Steve
  8. Lost my reply Will try again Is there any way to pin point this smith and get info on him Since there are many from different era’s I researched but I get Yoshimasa Nobukuni Steve
  9. Bruce I appreciate your advice I have bought seppas before Just have to get the right size How do you make a leather seppa?
  10. Hi y’all took pictures It looks like the strap is between the fuchi and seppa I wish it were a double snap rather than single but if I’m lucky I may find one on eBay The tsuba is a little looser than I would like any ideas? I looked in my Oshigata book No luck on this smith I agree with George about the ww2 connection Its one of the reasons why I bought it Lots of good information from everyone and thanks for that Just picked up another book by Jim Dawson And am looking to buy one by Military Swords Of Japan Book By Richard Fuller And book of connoisseurs That should keep me busy for awhile Yes it is quite a journey endless and fascinating one
  11. Brian please end this thread! It started out as an informative thread until others ruin it This is not about discussions but about disrespectful people I want to thank others who added good information
  12. You have nothing to add but more babaling criticism which nobody wants to hear Just move on my friend
  13. I am familiar with the the Fujishiro rating I’m bummed out thinking I had the correct information Now I have to figure out where I can find info for shinto ChikuzenNobukuni. since I was looking in the wrong places Thanks so much
  14. Quote me if I’m wrong know it’s not the value However I think it represents how good the sword was made ? like good excellent etc Like a grading system Also Jo suka gives it more? So any of this doesn’t represent mine ?Excuse my lack of knowledge
  15. I’m trying to see if this information is correct for this sword I did some research but can use another opinion
  16. I agree don’t want to put more than it’s worth Having a takayama sword is a nice collectible And a mint blade However not worth a new scabbard And not the same unless it’s a navy So probably best to leave it as is At least it still has a navy look to it and holds the sword Thanks for your help
  17. Thanks Bruce I know a takayama scabbard is next to impossible Is it worth it to have new scabbard made being this sword?
  18. Thanks to all for your help The new scabbard won’t be the same as the Navy Also more money would hurt the value when come time to sell I might get it repaired however I’m not sure if this is an original navy saya ? Steve
  19. Question is having a scabbard made by who? If I could find a navy one would be great but being a takayama sword would be next to impossible
  20. Hi I have this sword I want to put up because I can use some help with this sword I did some research about the smith and couldn’t find much information I saw one like it on the internet and was valued at over 2000 without papers This is the ist one I ever had with NBTHK Hozon documentation Does this add any value? Anyway I paid about 2400 incld EBay fees or it would have been 2000 It’s also in full polish I wanted a short sword hope I didn’t do to bad Steve
  21. Good question The saya It’s wooden black paint I don’t know if the saya is original or replacement? It has some splitting on top front and bottom It appears it’s too thick for the saya maybe shrinkage cause this? I was thinking of gluing the splitting but if you pinch the front top of the saya It Won’t go in all the way The blade itself is beautiful takayama sword Any suggestions?
  22. I find it interesting I have another sword A takayama I believe by the same smith except it’s stainless much shorter an thicker
