  1. Your elephant is being rusted in the bathroom(intentionally) before its green tea bath need to fill those gaps first.
  2. Yes most of the collection is very difficult to restore and I don't care about the market value..I'm not trying to restore them to sell..(that being said, I'll sell or giveaway the hopeless ones, maybe someone would like to use wrought iron or study metallurgy)
  3. Well that's a very slight chance but yes it feels great Thank you the Bruce.
  4. I know they will never be in a great condition but I did my best to clean them and will continue. It took a while but I finally started to see some improvements. I know I over did the one with the birds(there is also a crescent moon behind it, probably silver, would love to see it in its best condition) Some of them are very good for some study purposes.
  5. I've read somewhere that they were allowed to wear a real sword during Bakamatsu period. Maybe I'm wrong.
  6. It can't be recent. But yes I guess something was in there and fallen out..I hope it wasn't diamond and hope it wasn't me who made it fall
  7. Hello, I just found a very little and carefully drilled hole on a tsuba. Did anyone see anything like this before? What might be the purpose of it? It's weird too see that the hole didn't rust..
  8. Yesss! Thank you very much!!
  9. This is a tough one as the condition of tsuba/signature. Will appreciate if you can take a look. Thank you in advance.
  10. Nope it was already in that condition.
  11. Yeah, her daughter said he bought these in this condition a while ago.
  12. I'm waiting to hear from the deceased collector's daughter..going to edit the topic soon.
  13. I've just fixed it Thank you for letting me know.
  14. This is Frowni. I've been thinking about using my own name for some time now so I thought this might be the right time to start using this account. (I don't remember how I came up with that name in the first place) As I promised yesterday, I'm sharing a picture(mind the quality please) and a video of the Tsuba. I'm still trying to find out where these were found/came from but I think I'm getting closer. Some of these tsuba are sadly beyond saving (This is what I think but I'm not Ford) I'm going to take pictures of these one by one, in a white box, with a better camera. Please do let me know If you recognise some of these tsuba. Some of them are signed, but just wait for the better pictures. Here is the video: https://streamable.com/k5tqux
  15. Hello Chris, I'm trying to learn the story behind it. It might take a little time and study but these are from a deceased collector's grandfather. I'm calling "these" because there are 78 reasons for it. Wait for tomorrow. I have to make a room to take pictures
  16. Lets call this one Hachi Gata then
  17. Hello, This is from a shipwreck. I couldn't figure out what kind of tsuba is this. More-Gata? (Bad joke) Can you help me out please?
  18. It's an amazing book. Don't get me wrong but from a "designer" point of view, it deserves a much better cover design.(both front and back) I would love to help her out for a new design if there is going to be a second edition in the future. (totally free of charge)
  19. Not sure if this question was asked before but do you know if swords were needed to be re-polished after human cadaver cutting test? I believe cutting a bone would chip or mark a blade a little bit. I don't think they would offer a blade to a high ranking samurai or daimyo even with a slightest damage? Would love to learn if you know anything about this subject. Thanks in advance.
  20. Thank you very much @kyushukairu@SteveM You've been very helpful. Have to research further to find this mysterious fella.
