I have almost no experience with Japanese blades, and that's a blatant fake. The tang is a disaster. I see forging flaws I wouldn't let out of the shop. The shape is all wrong. I think I see at least one crack in the hamon.

Does anyone have additional info on the tanto?

I noticed that. I haven't seen that before. I wasn't sure if it was a sign of a rehilt, just close to the first. I don't know if I can get a better picture of the signature. Would it help to fill with white out or something similar? Or direct light for shadow?

The tanto blade is 26.5 cm long. The daito blade is close to 69 cm

These two came through from an estate that included a possible Persian yataghan (it may be an Indian copy) and some contemporary repros. With the small knowledge I have, I've tentatively assigned these to early 20th Century, pre-WWII, but obviously, I'm here looking for expertise. All input welcome.
