It appears to clearly have a boshi in the photos above. The kaeri is not very clear but I do see the boshi. Are you saying that it is missing in one part of the kissaki, or that you are not seeing the boshi at all?

The inscription reads Kozuke no kami Kanesada. It is not a reproduction.

Yes, it is authentic (otherwise I would have indicated in my response). It is best to have a professional polisher evaluate for restorability.

As said above, the blade has a kinzogan-mei (gold inlay) attribution to Kanemoto. There were 27 generations in this lineage, but from the limited appearance this is a koto blade (Muromachi period). . -
@Bruce Pennington, appears to be 秋 (Fall).

Moroba Bizen Osafune Sukesada tanto with koshirae
Ray Singer replied to Ray Singer's topic in Swords and Edged Weapons
Like the Yoshitake I reduced yesterday, the same owner I consigned for here asked that I reduce by 30% to help with some financial needs. This brings the Sukesada down: $2,975 + shipping & PayPal If anyone has an interest, please email me at raymondsinger@gmail.com to discuss further. Best regards, Ray- 1 reply

Izumo Daijo Yoshitake katana in shirasaya
Ray Singer replied to Ray Singer's topic in Swords and Edged Weapons
The owner I consigned for asked that I reduce by 30% to help with some financial needs he has. This brings the Yoshitake down to an pretty attractive level for a nice, signed, jo-sun length katana by a noted jo-saku smith with NBTHK Hozon kanteisho: $2,975 + shipping & PayPal If anyone has an interest, please email me at raymondsinger@gmail.com to discuss further. It is not that surprising, as there are many meikanmore smiths. However I am curious if there is any relation (in terms of lineage/descent) to the gendai knife maker Tadayoshi Seiichi, who signs his work 忠義作. https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=fd299e0f5b2672c9&rlz=1C1GCEU_enUS954US954&sxsrf=ACQVn09DqrukaUKe_2Fh7YwLVVi-cyIzbQ:1712852157182&q="忠義青一"&uds=AMwkrPuChM3QNXggeGrmIi9L-QtM8HXDHFTacyR8J-RvA2Ynk3eViTtTQuEuigH12MhB84NAQdmyN8abTMqstnb-Z3lmnuBlNXP9ue8RJtl3o2FNJIo5D2JHQNUivKThXkym7UXY6oZIRTbx582B020REr7CVcwvrgNoydU3wJW_kRIwLz_xxRJEKpjiHey1VHFZD_MGScnwL0ADD1dpP1yrOtZNs1MHkj8Zxqdpy8jpnZNcYzYDYxEUTwbavfKq-bXxUEKsU1a75Ob-uWCsIFkrPZsDeVB6D9G92JjKDmdpL5hhGjsHWBBPRhaunpr9d6gALDuSeDgg&udm=2&prmd=ivsmnbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjitYbDx7qFAxV1RTABHQYzCbMQtKgLegQIDRAB&biw=1536&bih=799&dpr=2.5

There would be a mekugi-ana in basically all cases, but with swords being cut up on Japan due to being unlicensed or being showato, they may be sold in this fragmented format (and I've seem more than one placed in a crude shirasaya).
-
This appears to be the upper fragment of a longer sword. A wakizashi or daito.
