  3. the one in Aoe arts....I seriously doubt it's a Christian tsuba( as I have one that's more like a cross and i don't consider that a Ch. tsuba ). Big size though and in sukashi that's always a " plus " ( I don't know why since most of the Kanayama are small ) , so the asking price is ok ( from the point of view of a gallery ). You are better off buying from the Daimyo............. now do i get my 5 % rebate ? Milt THE ronin

gang, have a tanto that's not that good ( meaning Big Mo not interested in playing with ) but I still want it polished to make the koshirae looks good........ need David Hoflin's e-mail address. Thanks. Milt THE ronin
  6. never mind.........found it. http://www.wolfcamera.com/product/SLR11 ... %3Bcinikon Nobody et al, is the price good ? free shipping, no sales tax. Milt THE ronin
  7. anyone knows the retail price of the Nikkor 18-135 mm AF DX lens ( they don't list the suggested retail price on Nikon site ) ? since I don't seem to be able to get the set up " below retail " on e-bay, I am thinking may be I have better luck sniping the D-80 body cheap and then buy the above lens separately. milt THE cheap ronin
  8. check the OLD issue of National Geographic magazine.........there's an article with pics of warehouse full of swords, a sargent ( feldwebel ? ) was holding a BIG sword in shira saya grinning like a cat in heat.........no, he didn't get to keep the sword. milt THE ronin
  9. seller seems very honest......he could have waited a few months, then relist WITHOUT the pinkie and let bidder's imagination runs wild. The polish alone costs more than 500 bucks. just my opinion........... milt THE ronin

  11. great news, Kapitan !! that means I can use all my old Nikkor lens from my F2 days ? milt THE ronin
  12. I think I see a ring flash light on e-bay.....I may even be able to deduct that for tax filing ( intraoral photography for dental office ) milt THE ronin
  13. thank you all for the suggestion............. I have been trying to get " bargain " ( the Nikon D 80 )on e-bay, but seems like they are all priced at full retail and a few that " act " like auction with no reserve..........ummm, there's always that " new member with zero rating " that bid it up to the retail price. So I play along but you never know, I may get lucky. Anyway, most likely it's going to be Best Buy or Target. Question for Noboby particularly......... what's the best set up for the Nikon sysytem ? the D80 with 18-135 mm Nikkor lens ? Which lens you use for close up pic ? those micro ( or is it macro ) lens ? or the zoom is good enough, just magnify and zoom in at a particular area as we do with the point and shoot camera ?? Tsuba help

" look at that plate, must have been perfectly flat and smooth, but then you get into the manufactured sheets and that would be a negative of them. I guess the forging of iron to get it perfectly smooth was hard to do? maybe before mass production? " mantis, get a hold of some ko-umetada tsuba..........some are flat and well polished and yet you can feel/see the iron bones barely under the surface. Milt THE ronin

http://cgi.ebay.com/Large-Japanese-Mokk ... dZViewItem read the mei carefully........................ no promise it'll pass shinsa but then most Kaneie tsuba gets pinkied anyway ( except one in Chicago a few years back ) milt THE ronin
  16. someone ought to undress the she-samurai " and teach her how to dress properly...................... left over right................. milt THE ronin
  17. there will be plenty of time for that.............most likely table reservation will start around Florida show in Feb. and I assume shinsa reservation will begin concurrently. Milt THE ronin
  18. http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiap ... index.html would have made one heck of a picture too with the Nikon D2Xs.............. milt THE ronin

  20. " BTW, I read about you in the Taiheiki, Kusonoki-dono, and am surprised to see you posting on the internet. Things changed quite abit since your birth in 1294, didn't they? " you are very funny Milt THE ronin
  21. thanks AGAIN, Nobody.......... the D80 that comes with the zoom lens goes for 1200 or so suggested retail, bet you we can get it cheaper at various discount stores. I may go with that set up and then try my old Nikkor lens and see what happens............... milt THE ronin
  22. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0028474639 anyone knows what alloy they used to give that red ? milt THE ronin
  23. " It produces very beautiful images and it is compatible with other Nikon lenses " thanks, Dave, you positive they are compatible with the OLD nikkor lens ? I have a whole range of that stuff ( from micro all the way to the 300 mm )........... I am leaning towards the D80 , 10 megapixel seems to be a good number and cost less than the D2Xs ( 12.4 ) at 5 X price !! Milt THE ronin
  24. arhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, find this............ http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2 I think D80 is more my speed ( read ....... depth of wallet ) D2Xs with 12.4 megapixel at 4699 , wow......nice but milt THE ronin
  25. thanks Nobody............this is very very cool. Page 8 seems to list all the old Nikkor lens but I cannot be sure as the words are very small ( can't read it ) guess I'll truck on down ( that's 60's lingo ) to Best Buy and suss ( Ozzie's speak ? ) it out. Milt THE ronin
