  1. looks like a childs skull to me. perhaps one who was born and injured or very sick. a tribute to her perhaps?
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT and provide me some details about them, the histtory and a translation of the kanji please. thank you.
  3. When you click the picture link you can go to all sizes and make the photo quite large as to get a good look at mei. P.S. Anyone who wants the raw pictures 2-5mb so they can look at em, or post them better than me please let me know.
  4. I never noticed it on sale. was just curious because when it pulled this post oin google it didnt have that it had come back
  5. ok i uploaded these to flicker from scanner. see what you can make out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/47444172@N07/4574596639/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/47444172@N ... otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/47444172@N ... otostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/47444172@N ... otostream/ appears to have been filled at one time, then knocked back out.
  6. sorry to bring up a dead post, but does anyone know what happened to this piece?
  7. Very interesting, I will have to pull it out tomorrow and look more carefully.
  8. Thank you for your reply, but i do not understand what you mean. Can you show me where you see this up and down action on the pictures? I see none when holding the blade, I may not know what to look for. Thank you for your time.
  9. Wow mark you did a great job zooming in on these!
  10. Any experts in the field of muneyaki here? I would like to maybe tackle that section a little bit.
  11. 1: This blade is 99.9% chip free. what appears to be chips are dark spots directly at the ha so the scanned pics make them look like chips. 2: mune: iori-mune, oroshi: gentle A shallow triangle gentle yet strong. 3: Very miniscule if any. I see no differance. edit: All edits pertain to copy and paste to best display questions and answers
  12. I was not saying it is cut down, asked hypothetically.... "lets say it def was cut down" I was not making the statement that i believed it was. Lost in internet translation I am sure. edit: grammar
  13. So lets say this is definately cut down, do you believe that would have made this blade when full katana a Saki-Zori instead? I ask because then with this being cut down, all my measurements really don't play the same issue in my attribution of period or school, and instead need to focus on what it was like as a whole. Edit: added original sellers pics
  14. Marked hamon.... What i figured out was take apart your scanner. I removed the lid very carefull and by doing that I was able to get the blade much flatter and less off the glass.
  15. YASURIME - 鑢目- file marks on nakago I would say Kiri
  16. Veli thank you for that reply. The extended reply allows me to learn by taking what you say and letting me look at the blade and study it. That was really what i needed to help further my understanding. Thank you very very much.
  17. Thank you stephen. You are a gentleman and a scholar. edit: lol I was initial bidder on that one i believe. LOL at least i'm picking good books.
  18. I suggest u use the scanner in a dark room or with a black background. i used 600 dpi because 1200 wouldnt read for some reason. If done correctly u can zoom in pretty close. Moss you must have a beef with arnold, dave, simon, and that's all right. i hope it is substantiated. But it prob would be better to work it out or do it in pm's. I know the people here are respected, and very helpful we don't want any new comers thinking we are aggressive and will flame or slam people. It will only scare ppl away and not help us as a community.
  19. Stephen what book is that pic form?
  20. It does. But the study I was doing said that would be normal for an un cut blade during those times.
  21. I really feel this has never been cut down. What makes you feel it has been?
  22. http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/sear ... 7fe043718c hope this helps someone
