1tallsword Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 I have just purchased what i believe to be a ww2 imperial Japanese kyo-gunto officers dress sword with tassel. the thing I cant figure out is the silver medallion/token on handle? anyone know what this is and what it says? i have not seen another and after looking at literally dozens of pictures still have no luck. it looks 100% original to me and does not look to have been addded in any way.thank you,Jeremy Quote
Drago Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 This is just like a mon. I've seen "mon" with the family names spelled out on them before. The pic is upside-down by the way. Unfortunately I can't help you translate this, as I don't have access to my books... Quote
Stu W Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 Hello, That's a Kamon, often referred to as a Mon. Have a look here, many are listed. http://www.asgy.co.jp/anglais/whatskamon/history.html Regards, Stu Quote
