hxv Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Hi, Please help me with the attached mei. I couldn't figure out the 2nd kanji. Yoshi ... saku. Thank you, Hoanh Quote
hxv Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 I see it now. Thank you so much Martin! Hoanh Quote
hxv Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 Thank you George. The nakago looks old, but Yoshiharu is listed in HAWLEY as a WWII smith. The mei doesn't look like the usual WW2 hastily chiseled mei. I like the mei, actually. I don't know what to think of this sword. I'm looking for input on the merit of the sword and/or any other advice, please? Regards, Hoanh Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 Do you have any other photos of the sword and koshirae, auction description or anything to base an opinion or advise on? It is impossible to advise based on a close up of a mei alone. Quote

It is very much different than your sword's mei. My blade is hiro suguha nioi deki, no nakago stamps. Mei below: Hard to believe there were two Pacific War Yoshi Haru smiths, or that someone would attempt a gimei of such a minor smith. EDIT: Here's a link to an older Yoshi Haru thread wherein the mei matches mine: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=11109 EDIT #2: Oops, maybe there are two of them: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5794 Quote
