Yoshimori

Does anyone have any information on a Gendai Smith, Yoshimori? I believe he died in the 1930s. Any information on School, teacher, ranking etc would be most appreciated.

Can you tell us the kanji used in the mei? Do you have an oshigata?

Sorry Chris, I don't have an oshigata or know which Kanji are used. I believe he is listed in the Gendaito meikan p.204 unfortunately we can't read Japanese. Also I believe his name is Tamamoto Morishige.

Not sure if this will help but here is page 204 of Gendai Toko Meikan

Does not seem to have a Yoshimori??

 

But in Gendai Toko, kinko, shokuho soran p134 there is a listing of a Yoshimori

 

and in Hawley YOS1326 is a listing of a smith working in Miyazaki 1963 and

a note for TK762

Thank you David. I was asking on behalf of a friend of mine and I will let him work it out.

This entry says that the smith's name is Yamamoto Morishige, that his sword making name is Ishinsai Yoshimori. He was a student of the shodai Kawashima Tadayoshi. He was awarded the Nyusen award 4 times at the post war contests. He died July 11, 1965. He had one student, Kimoto Kosaburo. He was from Miyazaki.
