nagamaki - Franco Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 FYI, http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/10-000-free-round-trip-tickets-Japan-134142507.html Just keep in mind the old saying, "nothing is free!", plus, fortune cookie says, 'Don't mistake temptation for opportunity.' Quote
hybridfiat Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Dont believe a word of it Ive just been to the Japan Tourist Bureau website and they state they have not heard of any offer. Quote
Henry Wilson Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 I believe. If it is in the Japan Times, it must be true............... http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/ ... 012a2.html Quote
Brian Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Please folks..keep me updated on any progress with this? It may be my only way to return to the country I love for a visit, and I am sure that with this website and the 2.5M hits it generates a month...there has to be a decent chance for me to assist them with their tourism issue. I mean c'mon...we already have a captive audience here with an interest in Japan. And it is cultural and historical. You couldn't ask for a better place to promote Japan. So hold thumbs for me..I really hope they go ahead with this offer. Really want to return Brian Quote
hybridfiat Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Ditto. Thats why I was making enquiries of the Japanese Tourist Bureau within seconds of reading about it. Quote
Henry Wilson Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Why not come even if you have to pay for the flight? http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/ ... 014f1.html Quote

hybridfiat Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Why not come even if you have to pay for the flight? http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/ ... 014f1.html I should add I want to stay with Katsumata-san at his Kirinoya Ryokan in Narita. Katsumata-san and his wife were delightful people and the Ryokan very cozy. I wrote a travel piece on my last trip to Hakuba, it was a great trip with good snow, lovely people and good food. :D Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Small World Steve, Just arrived back in GB after 10 days at Kirinoya. Did you get to wear the Kabuto from the armour in the corner of his shrine room? Katsumata san is a real Gent. Cheers Malcolm Quote
hybridfiat Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 No I didnt wear it I am too shy to ask. Yes I was absolutely rapt with the Kironoya and all in it. I found them in the lonely planet guide. Quote
