Cuirassier Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Hi All Thanks for your help previously. I am a little unsure as to whether the 3rd from last kanji is "michi" or not; I am pretty sure it is (Kanemichi) but something does not quite look right, I don't know why. Cheers Mark Quote
Mark Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 it looks like Kanetsugu to me, but other members will confirm or correct me Quote

Cuirassier Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 Hi mark, Chris Back to the drawing board! Quote
chrisf Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I've just checked and there is an oshigata of your smith in the lists on 'Japanese Sword Index',a fantastic resource and full of information about WW2 ssmiths. Reading Showa mei is sometimes very difficult because of the 'chippy' nature of many of the signatures,it's a bit of a sweeping generalisation but better smiths have better mei,the very chippy ones are almost invariably gunto/Showato. The Index is great because if you don't have oshigata books you can check what you think it might be against the oshigata there. Quote
