Hi,

It is pronounced "Koriki-shi" usually.

The pronunciation of the character(shi/uji,氏) is different according to the situation.

The Koriki's original roots is "Taira"平 or "Kumagai"熊谷.

So, to read "Koriki-shi" as Mr,Koriki(in modern use)/The Koriki, or "Koriki-uji" as The Koriki ,The Koriki families ,The Koriki clan.

The usage is difficult though I have a family name dictionary of the thickness of about four inches.

Thank you. I am very grateful for your help! When you say

The Koriki's original roots is "Taira"平 or "Kumagai"熊谷
, are they from both or just one of the two other families?

Any direction you can point me to is very appreciated! I am trying to research the hatamoto aspect of this family, and little is published, in english, that I can find.

Thank you

A lot of Samurai tried to link their lineage to either Taira or Minamoto, and some even tried to prove they were direct descendants of Amaterasu Omikami.

It does not prove that they (f)actually were linked to either family or deity. ;)
